Carnforth Cricket Club and Carnforth Rangers Football Club are to compete in the first annual football/cricket double header in memory of Neil Darby to raise funds for the CRY charity (Cardiac Risk in the Young). Neil Darby, Carnforth CC’s 2nd XI captain, died suddenly on January 11th 2008 at the age of 27.
On Sunday 4th May 2008 there will be a football match between the two clubs at Carnforth Rangers FC. The game will have a morning kick-off with the time still to be confirmed. Afterwards there will be refreshments and food available at Carnforth Cricket Club.
On Friday 23rd May 2008 there will be a Twenty20 cricket match between the two clubs at Carnforth CC with a start time of around 6pm. Following the game there is entertainment planned, Gavin Darby is to have his hair shaved off for the charity, a band has been booked, and a presentation of the Neil Darby Memorial trophies will be made.
